WHEN Redcliffe PCYC soccer players don their jerseys for the first game next season, they will be representing a new clubhouse with pride. The $450,000 makeover is taking shape, with construction scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. The old clubhouse, described by club vice-president Craig Pawson as a ``shack’’, was knocked down last year after serving for about 25 years. Mr Pawson said the old facilities were not up to scratch and had been holding the club back. ``It’s been a long time getting here,’’ he said. ``The new facility will be a home base, it will make a huge difference.’’ The clubhouse will feature a canteen, commercial kitchen, club rooms, shower and change rooms, storage and a big veranda. Despite government grants funds have fallen short, so further fundraising will be needed. ``It’s just one of those things,’’ Mr Pawson said. ``Over the next few years, we will always have something to do.’’ The council has also installed new grandstands and dugouts at the field in preparation for the 2010 season. Redcliffe PCYC Soccer Club will hold an AGM on Monday from 7pm at the clubhouse.
